One of Texas’ finest church choirs will be performing in Galway at a free concert in St. Nicholas Church on Saturday June 25 at 8pm.
Based in Dallas, Texas, St Rita’s Catholic Church Choir is recognised throughout the United States having one of the most comprehensive and accomplished programmes in Catholic Church music.
Consisting of 38 singers, aged from 26 to 66, this mixed voice choir sings weekly from late August to Corpus Christi, interpreting choral literature from Gregorian chant to the present day.
The choir is led by Dr Alfred Calabrese, director of music who was hailed “one of the finest conductors of his generation” by the late American maestro Robert Shaw.
