Monroe's reveals line-up for GIAF 2024

Monroe’s Live has announced a feast of music from home and abroad as part of the Galway International Arts Festival 2024.

On Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm, the Fun Lovin’ Criminals will take to the stage with their blend of hip-hop, rock n’ roll, blues-jazz, and Latin-soul. The band burst onto the scene in 1996 with the worldwide multi-platinum debut album Come Find Yourself and their single ‘Scooby Snacks’ became an international hit.

Singer-songwriter Oisín Leech, one half of revered folk duo The Lost Brothers, will perform on Saturday, July 20 at 7:30pm. Having released his debut solo album Cold Sea to critical acclaim, his immersive songs tell a complete story and sense of place.

From Dingle, Éilís Kennedy and Pauline Scanlon come together as Lumiere on Sunday, July 21 at 8pm. Immersed in the west Kerry singing tradition, they take the sacred to re-imagine it simply and beautifully, with truth and trust for the modern age.

Darren Kiely brings his folk-infused pop to the stage on Tuesday, July 23 at 8pm. An award-winning musician from a young age, he is renowned for his raw and emotive vocals. His music originates from his love of traditional Irish music with modern influences.

most accomplished female vocalists, Róisín O performs on Wednesday, July 24 at 8pm. Her career includes several critically acclaimed albums and singles that showcase her exceptional talent, exploring themes of life and self-discovery.

The only son of British folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson, singer-songwriter, Teddy Thompson, will perform on Thursday, July 25 at 8pm. He has released numerous albums and is renowned for his rich, honey toned vocals.

One of the great pop eccentrics of his generation, Gruff Rhys, brings his melodically rich, stylistically adventurous works to Monroe’s Live on Friday, July 26 at 8pm. Rhys gained fame in the mid-90s as the frontman for the Welsh neo-psychedelic warriors Super Furry Animals.

George Murphy and The Rising Sons combine stellar vocals with traditional Irish instrumentation and classic rock n’ roll on Saturday, July 27 at 7:30pm. After a run of sold out shows, they will play revamped old classics and much loved originals, delving into the depths of our shared heritage through stomping melody.

Multi award-winning artist from Clare, Tara Howley excels as an instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and composer and will perform on Sunday, July 28 at 8pm. With a background in classical and traditional music, Tara’s illustrious career includes seven years with ‘Riverdance'.
