Turn2Me launches free meditation programme

Turn2Me, a national mental health charity, has launched a free meditation programme on its website, Turn2Me.ie The charity has seen an increase in the number of people logging onto its website and looking for a variety of supports, ranging from support groups to one-to-one counselling sessions. The charity also received feedback from its users looking for a free guided meditation programme, which is why it decided to launch this service.

The guided meditation sessions are available on the Turn2Me website. Anyone can access this content; they just need to go to the post and click ‘play’.

“Mindful meditation brings your focus to the present moment, breath by breath,” said Suzanne Ennis, clinical manager at Turn2Me. “It allows you to notice what happens within your body, moment to moment.

“Meditation has become more and more recognised within western medicine in recent years. It can assist with sleep, assist with managing symptoms associated with depression and anxiety, in some cases it reduces some of the psychological difficulties associated with chronic pain. It can also improve cognitive and behavioural functions.

“Meditation requires patience and regular practice. To assist all our users with their practice we'll be releasing a weekly guided meditation on the Turn2Me website. We’ll begin with short mediations for beginners, and slowly build upon the practice.

“Turn2Me invites you all to join us on this meditative journey. While meditation has different outcomes for each practitioner, there is no downside to it. There is no harm in trying it, so allow yourself five minutes a day to focus on you and be present.”
