Can you give a child a safe trusting environment?

There is currently a huge demand for foster carers and Origins Foster Care have a recruitment campaign underway to highlight the ongoing need for foster carers in Connacht. Origins are looking for people interested in fostering:

1. From babies to 18 years

2. To provide supported lodgings to young people aged 16 to 18.

Every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and loving environment to grow and thrive. Sadly, there are in excess of 6000 children in Ireland who have experienced neglect, abuse, or family disruptions, leaving them in need of a stable and caring home. This is where foster carers play a pivotal role in transforming lives and providing a second chance.

Foster carers are the unsung heroes who open their hearts and homes to children in crisis. They offer the support, guidance, and unconditional love that can help heal and create a brighter future. By becoming a foster carer, you can make an extraordinary impact on a child's life, while at the same time enriching your own life.

Foster caring is not just about providing shelter and basic necessities; it's about offering emotional support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. You have the power to make a lasting difference by being a positive role model, helping children overcome challenges, and guiding them towards a brighter future.

While fostering is undoubtedly a rewarding experience, it also comes with its share of challenges. Origins offer comprehensive training, ongoing support, and access to a dedicated network of professionals to assist you every step of the way.

Origins Foster Care treats each application on an individual basis, but the following is some of the criteria involved for those interested in becoming foster carers. You need to be over 25, have a spare bedroom, be medically fit and have a full clean driving licence. The carer needs to have availability to meet the needs of a child in care. Origins welcome applications from homeowners and renters and Garda Vetting will be completed as part of the assessment. Origins welcomes applications from same-sex couples, single people, separated/ widowed, married couples.
