"I'M GONNA make you girls, lead me by my hand, then the world'll know, I'm the hoochie-coochie man!" So sang Muddy Waters on his legendary 1954 single, and some of that 'black cat bone' and mojo vibe will be at The Dirty Circus this weekend.
Hoochie Coochie is the title of the next instalment of The Dirty Circus burlesque and cabaret night, which takes place in the Róisín Dubh tomorrow at 9pm, and 'Hoochie Coochie' is an appropriate term.
It first appeared in the late 19th century to describe a sexually provocative dance and a precursor of the striptease, which the American author Don Wilmeth described as involving belly dance "punctuated with bumps and grinds and a combination of exposure, erotic movements, and teasing".
Expect erotic movements from Miss Burlesque Ireland, Bella AgoGo; dancer Dee Keveaney; Pole artist BOOSKE; and more guests to be confirmed. The MC will be entertainer Paddy Fagan; front of house will be Kitty Satine and Eve Shadows; and electro swing from DJ Cantina Bop. There will also be prizes for the best dressed audience members.
Tickets are €15 from www.roisindubh.net
