Claregalway's 9 Arch Musical Society performs musch loved classic tonight, Thursday November 15, Friday 16, and Saturday 17

THE SOUND of Music is one of the world's best loved musicals, and will be performed in the Town Hall Theatre by Claregalway's 9 Arch Musical Society tonight, Thursday November 15, Friday 16, and Saturday 17.

Set in Austria in 1938 in the build up to World War II, it follows free spirited Maria (Megan Lohan ), who goes to live as governess to the Von Trapp children, and ends up falling in love with Captain Von Trapp (Alan Greaney, whose daughter Faye also plays Gretl Von Trapp ). The Mother Abbess (Annette Cavanagh ) tells Maria she must find her true path in life, and she and the captain finally marry. However danger still awaits, they have a concert to perform after which they must flee across the mountains to Switzerland, but will they escape the Nazis?

The Sound Of Music features such well loved songs as 'My Favourite Things' and 'Do Re Mi', 'Edelweiss', and 'Climb Every Mountain'. Jay Molynenx is the show's director and choreographer. Shane Farrell is musical director.
