Kevin Ryan ratified as new Carlow hurling manager

Waterford native and hurling great Kevin Ryan has been appointed as the new senior and under 21 hurling manager for Carlow. Ryan was ratified at a county board meeting in Carlow last night (Wednesday ) and is expected to push the growth of Carlow’s hurling.

County Board chairman Pat Deering told Carlow First Ryan was looking forward to his new position and has great belief in the players. “Kevin told me he thinks the team is made up of a fantastic bunch of players and they have a great prospect in going forward in the near future not to mention the under 21s who really did the county proud,” he said.

Ryan was the right hand man to Justin McCarthy during his reign as Waterford hurling boss. The 42-year-old has a wealth of hurling experience, having managed Waterford club Mount Sion and more recently managing Wexford outfit Oulart-The Ballagh as well as leading his team to two Munster finals as a player.
