Looking for a great night of dramatic entertainment? Well, Kiltoom Drama Group are at it again! The hysterical comedy, It’s The Real McCoy, by Tommy Marren, has been taking the nation by storm and now Kiltoom Drama Group are putting their own twist on this wonderful play.
Running from Thursday-Sunday, November 12 - 15 at 8pm in Ballybay Parish Hall, the play is set in rural Ireland in the early 1960s where the local community is dominated by the tyrannical rule of Madge Molloy (May Cunningham ). Madge has endured four decades of humiliation due to the mysterious absence of her husband Tom (John Stack ).
She has become embittered and hardened by her stigmatised status and hardworking life in rural Ireland, not to mention the fact that she has had to bring up her daughter alone. As a consequence, she is determined that her only child Maura (Jackie Cunnane ) will never fall into a similar trap by marrying the local postman, Martin Daly (Donie Hamrock ).
Amid all of Madge’s troubles she is faced with the most shocking revelations resulting from the arrival of a new curate to the local parish in the form of Fr McCoy, (Paul Slevin ). Can poor Madge keep all of the ensuing humiliations under wraps? Or prevent them from reaching local gossips Nora and Cora O’Hora (Ann Toohey and Lisa Nugent )? Will the events overcome her intensely frosty nature and tyrannical rule? Could there possibly be a thaw? Come along to Ballybay Parish Hall to find out …….
