Staff from the Athlone branch of Woodies have helped to raise in excess of €6,000 for four charitable causes this past month.
As part of the ninth annual Woodie’s Heroes campaign, staff from the popular branch, located at the Kilmartin N6 Centre, raised €6,224 with great assistance from customers, colleagues and suppliers.
The sum of money raised will be divided equally amongst the four deserving charities, namely ISPCC Childline, Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, Down Syndrome Ireland, and Make-A-Wish Ireland.
Woodie’s Heroes was established in 2015 and to date, has raised over €3 million for Irish children’s charities. This year’s fundraising is expected to see that figure grow closer to €3.5 million.
A statement from Woodie’s noted that the Athlone management and staff were overjoyed by the generosity and support shown to them during the campaign by the local community and that they wished to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated.
The company said the €12,730 raised across the two Westmeath stores (a similar amount was accumulated in the Mullingar branch ), would make a meaningful difference to the children and families who are supported by the four benefiting charities.
