Funding allocated for sensory garden upgrade at Dún na Si Amenity & Heritage Park in Moate

As part of a national drive to promote local green spaces, biodiversity and community connections, Dún na Si Amenity & Heritage Park in Moate has been awarded funding from the AXA Parks Fund to enhance their sensory garden.

The project is one of 84 being undertaken by community groups across Ireland with funding totalling €900,000 from the AXA Parks Fund.

Welcoming the announcement, Karen Nugent, Manager, Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park, stated that the funding would be used to improve and maintain the sensory garden within the popular attraction.

“The support of the AXA Parks Fund through The Community Foundation for Ireland is a great help in improving and maintaining our sensory garden, one of the many attractions in our Amenity Park. Local green spaces are vital assets which should be protected, promoted, and supported.

“Our work will not only deliver benefits for local people now but will help ensure the survival of our local biodiversity to be enjoyed for generations to come.”
